Sutton Heath Parish Council – record of matters raised at annual parish meeting, 15/6/26
Sutton Heath Parish Council quoracy over the last year – concerns were acknowledged, Cllr’s recommended that residents agree to start a new chapter. This was accepted.
Derelict house on the corner of Thorn Walk – update requested but as this is private property on an estate not covered by East Suffolk Council this is not possible at this stage, if somebody has contact details for the resident it would be helpful so that we can write to him about it.
Website – this is active and can be found by searching for Sutton Heath Parish Council or using this link: https://suttonheath.onesuffolk.net/ .
A request for a resident’s whatsapp group to be set up, done, please let me know if you would like your number to be added. In terms of GDPR this is limited to people who vote/reside at Sutton Heath and is an informal group purely for community related announcements. My number is 07738517756.
A call was put out for leaflet deliverers for our newsletter and any urgent notices – 4 residents have volunteered, which is much appreciated, especially as I am keen to get a newsletter out. Any further offers please let me know. Ruth.Leach@EastSuffolkCouncil.gov.uk
A request was made for a stronger relationship with the MOD which the Parish Council will support. Ideas on how to strengthen that were discussed, including a community ‘cook out’.
Speeding at Sutton Heath – requested to clear 40mph signage, actioned and completed. Request to be made to Cllr Jonathan Ramsay to explore repeater signs for 40 mph zone. Mowing to be discussed with Priem to request an approach to the mowing in order to support biodiversity.
A request was made to discuss a resident’s lack of a soakaway – once we have a MOD liaison officer we will be able to enquire.
Deer signs – to request from SCC Cllr Ramsay.
A big thank you to the person who does the litter pick along Heath Rd – this effort is appreciated and much valued by the community.
Stop sign that was knocked over – to request an update, I note that it has been removed but am awaiting confirmation that this job is complete and who removed it. Again, we need to do this through a MOD liaison person.
Sutton Heath Estates Sign – can some one point out exactly where is as because I can no longer see it, damaged signs at Heath Rd T junction, report on SCC Highways reporting tool.
Broken Bus shelter and missing timetable and bus ‘no shows’ to be reported to SCC – actioned.
Exercise classes – suggestions for yoga classes, dance for health, Tai Chi, and others – discussed with Gurkha families as well so discussion is now taking place with communities officer at East Suffolk Council. Consideration will be given to licencing and shared times as requested as well as a weekend class if available.
Request for a pop-up pub – to be explored, possibly on the Bealings model.
Newsletter – much needed and would like it to go out in September, any suggestions/content please send to me at this stage. Any further leaflet deliverers will be appreciated.
A wine tasting event was suggested – to be explored.
Priem - AGM details shared by resident Claire Thompson, awaiting those minutes which are emailed to residents I believe, apologies that I didn’t attend, was getting married.
East Maintenance – request for representation on Council – more to follow on co-option and vacant Cllr places over next few days as I take advice from SALC, NALC legal and East Suffolk Council.
To request a MOD liaison person – actioned.
According to my notes, these were the issues raised, thank you to everyone for the enthusiastic and lively engagement. This is a promising start to a new chapter.
We will continue to action the points above, please feel free to contact me on 07738517756 or via Ruth.Leach@eastsuffolkcouncil.gov.uk .
The next parish council meeting is on the 27th July, I am using the parish noticeboard outside the shop as well as the website to post communications. If there are any items to be considered for the agenda or the newsletter please let me know. The agenda is already very full as we pick up matters from over the last year.
